The original melodrama, once promoted by P.T. Barnum himself! Our heroine, Mary WIlson, and her mother are in danger of having their humble home foreclosed on. Enter the villain, Lawyer Cribbs, who wants their cottage for his own, as well as the heroine! When the heroine marries hero Edward Middleton, the villain tricks him into drinking spirits for the first, sending him into a tragic spiral. Meanwhile his best friend William Dowton spends years trying to save Edward and help his own sister, Agnes, who knows a secret about Edward’s father’s will. Prepare yourself to cheer, boo, hiss, and throw popcorn!
